Time to Plan

I was up at 3 a.m. today.

My insomnia is a strange thing. On the one hand, it's frustrating because I'd like to get into a normal sleeping pattern. I'd love to be able to sleep from 11 pm to 5 am, but for some reason, around 3 am my sleep starts to break, no matter what time I go to bed. However, insomnia has been such steady part of my life that sometimes I feel it is a sign that things are getting back to 'normal.' I find it so ironic that for the past few days I've been struggling to stay awake, and now I can't go back to sleep ...

I tried to get back to sleep, but when the anxiety started to set in around 3:20, I decided to get up and make the most of my day. I could always take a nap later if I needed to ... however, I was hoping to get into a more normal schedule from today ... perhaps this is what normal is going to look like for me for the next few weeks?! Well being up early definitely gives me a few extra hours to my day, and I did mange to be quite productive.

I spent a number hours on my PhD, which is more than I've spent on it in a while! Plus I've stocked up on some yummy veggies that I plan on using for a variety of stews and soups over the upcoming days. I've also got most my Christmas shopping done and the tree is looking lovely, particularly with the number of presents adding up underneath :)

I set up a general exercise routine for myself - starting tomorrow. I hope that my body doesn't let me down. My mind is definitely more than ready to be back at the gym. I know I need to be patient and careful ... but still, I'm really eager to get back into the swing of things. I am not where I envisioned I would be two months ago ... I need to make some steps in the right direction.

  2. I knew you had insomnia, but I didn't realize it was a chronic thing. That's a drag. I'm glad you're at least feeling a bit productive. I guess that's one good thing. So happy to hear you're back at the gym and I'm sure you're even happier LOL. Don't overdo it!

Kristi, sleeping for 8 hours sounds fabulous ... if only I could manage that on a regular basis!
